Your Killarney Home Base

Waterfront, Not Wilderness Camping

Hartley Bay Cottages sits directly inside French River Provincial Park, a designated waterway park, with the main Visitor Centre about 20 minutes south on Highway 69. Our three cottages — The Aspen, The Birch and The Cedar — each have their own stretch of shoreline, a hot tub, and canoes or kayaks, so your days can start and end on the water.

Killarney Provincial Park is known for the La Cloche Mountains pink granite cliffs, white quartzite ridges, and some of the best hiking and canoeing in Ontario. Spend the day exploring the park, then come back to a private cottage on a quiet lake — not a campsite or a shared resort.

Beyond French River and Killarney, the cottages make a great base for a whole circuit of Northern Ontario provincial parks: Grundy Lake is about 35 to 40 minutes away, Mashkinonje around 50 to 55 minutes, and Restoule and Killbear each 75 to 90 minutes for a longer day out on Georgian Bay. (Approximate driving times, depending on traffic.)

Exploring Killarney Provincial Park

Killarney is famous for hiking trails like The Crack and the Chikanishing Trail, and for canoe routes through the La Cloche Mountains that draw paddlers from across Ontario. Bring your hiking boots and a canoe, and you will want both.
